| T. Energy Saving |
The reduction of carbon dioxide emissions is required under the Kyoto Protocol. Our emissions in the last fiscal year were at 60% of the 1990 level. The Japan Chemical Industry Association set a goal of reducing the basic unit for energy to 90% by 2010, in comparison to 1990 consumption. The unit has already been reduced to 88%. Our energy-saving commitments will continue and will consistently aim at lessening the environmental burden.
|
1. |
Our production facilities aim to reduce energy consumption 5% in comparison with the previous year (oil-conversion consumption rate).
| ・ |
Our total productive maintenance (TPM) will improve production efficiency, reduce losses, improve machinery performance and, through the reuse of thermal waste and cooling water, facilitate energy savings. |
| ・ |
We will adapt to fluctuations in production scale and achieve proper control. The conversion of used energy is also facilitated. |
|
2. |
Our non-production facilities aim at reducing electricity use 5% per person in comparison with the previous year. |
|
| U. Downsizing of Industrial Waste |
1. |
Our production facilities aim to achieve a 5% (based on the consumption rate) reduction in industrial waste disposed of externally, in comparison with the previous year.
| ・ |
The specifications and packaging forms of raw materials and properties and industrial waste management are reviewed with the aim of enabling the reduction and reuse of industrial waste. |
|
2. |
Our non-production facilities aim to reduce the volume of industrial waste disposed of externally 5% per person in comparison with the previous year.
| ・ |
Encouraging the use of data base and in-company mail will reduce paper use. |
|
|
| V. Reduction of Emission of Toxic Chemicals |
1. |
Our production facilities follow environmental laws and prepare and execute plans to reduce emissions of toxic chemicals that are specified by the PRTR and suchlike. This may encompass emissions into air, water and soil and industrial waste. |
2. |
Our production facilities encourage energy savings and review the use of fuels to reduce emissions of carbon dioxide, sulfur oxide and nitrogen oxide into the air |
3. |
Our production facilities that emit COD, BOD, nitrogen and equivalent into water will reduce emissions. |
|
| W. Safe Operation |
|
Our production facilities will be committed to security, protection against disasters and quality improvement, and ensure safety and consistency in their operations. |
| X. Active Participation and Cooperation in Environmental Protection |
|
・We will actively participate in the community’s environmental protection activities.
・We will maintain close cooperation with our clients in sustaining our environmental protection commitments. |
| Y. Use of Environmental Management System |
Our Marugame Plant and Tokushima Plant will follow ISO-14001 and control occurrences of non-compliance concerning the environmental load.
