| CUREZOL® is the epoxy curing agent or accelerator of imidazole developed by SHIKOKU CHEMICALS CORPORATION, and is classified into the following series. |
|
Basic structure of CUREZOL. It has many uses. Good solubility by introducing a polar functional group and Low melting point. Trimellitic acid starts reacting with epoxy resin at high temperature. Its solubility to epoxy resin is low and it can be applied to one component type. Compared with OR series, it is suitable for long pot life component. The reaction with epoxy resin starts at higher temperature than other series. The pot life of its component is the longest. Imidazole which has a special structure. That does not belong to any of the above categories. Imidazolines. Good for powder coating. Additive agent that suppresses the migration of silver or copper ions. CUREDUCT is an excellent latent curing agent. It’s based on imidazole derivatives. Click here to jump to “The solubility to the various solvents of Curezol”. |
Feature of curing agent [Reaction mechanism] [Reaction temperature range]
- As CUREZOL is a catalyst type, only small amount is required (1-10phr).
As a result, when the solid CUREZOL is chosen, an increase in viscosity of the compound can be avoided. - CUREZOL improves the heat resistance of compounds.
- Much less toxicity than amine.
- Widely available to improve properties, with low curing temperature and long pot life.
- As it is a single substance, there is no molecular weight distribution. This creates stable characteristic.
Application as a hardening catalyst
- As accelerator for acid anhydride
- As accelerator for DICY
- As accelerator for phenol resin
- As curing agent with amine
